This space has never had a clearly defined purpose. It remains a place where I try to express ideas and share knowledge with the community. Inspired by LinuxTips, I always wanted it to be accessible - a place where people could grow alongside my challenges, experiences, and reflections.

The intended audience hasn’t changed: software engineers and managers at any stage of their careers. That’s a decision I don’t plan to revisit.

After nearly eight years working at Brazilian companies, I started feeling it was time to move on. I had long been curious about what it would mean to work in an international environment, yet one factor consistently held me back.

As a junior engineer, I couldn’t clearly articulate the difference between Brazilian engineers and their counterparts abroad. Still, I held a strong belief that working internationally would be fundamentally different. I don’t think that intuition was wrong - but my reasoning has evolved.

Here, we build high-quality software. We have excellent professionals, ship products used by millions, and operate systems that handle thousands of requests per second. It’s true that many of our companies are concentrated in areas like sales, e-commerce, and banking - often the highest-paying sectors - but that doesn’t diminish the level of technical expertise involved.

Moving toward an international career with the expectation of being surrounded by “better” engineers is unrealistic. Differences might exist, but I expect it to be more rooted in culture than in technical ability.

The change - both in my career and in the language of this blog - is driven by curiosity. On the blog side, I hope to reach more people and open space for new connections. On the career side, I simply want to keep learning and making good friends along the way.
